Good for better concrete

Building a sustainable future together.

With the planet as a silent stakeholder, we always take our impact on people and the environment into account in our business operations. Strong relationships and a forward-looking approach form the basis of our activities.

Demula's Sustainability Programme

Our contribution to more sustainable concrete goes beyond simply improving our customers’ performance. We are actively committed to reducing our environmental footprint at every stage of our company’s operations. We therefore continue to strive to optimize our production and logistics processes in order to reduce emissions.

Participation at the VCDO

Thanks to our participation in Voka’s Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship support programme, we are gradually developing our sustainability policy, using the Sustainable Development Goals as a framework. By implementing at least 10 actions annually across the various sustainability domains, we can achieve their laureate certificate. As 2025 marked our first year of participation, their evaluation committee will assess for the first time this year whether our actions have had sufficient impact, whether there are sufficient links to our core business, and whether they have been implemented in accordance with the SMART criteria.

Some current and completed projects

Eco-Grout product development

We are fully committed to developing a new, more climate-friendly product line – CuglaNova – to reduce CO2 emissions during the production of our mortars. By switching to a different type of cement, the Portland clinker content has been significantly reduced and supplemented with blast furnace slag, a waste stream from the steel industry. Meanwhile, we continue to research other potential cement additives sourced from local production.

Recycled granulate in our packaging

Since 2025, we have switched to bagged products consisting of 50% recycled granulate for our mortars. Our new jerrycans also already contain 40% rHDPE, whilst retaining the UN marking for hazardous substances. Together with our packaging suppliers, we continue to look for more sustainable alternatives.

More in bulk, less transport

The purchase and commissioning of new storage tanks means that more raw materials can be transported in bulk. This not only reduces the number of kilometres travelled, but also cuts down on the packaging materials that would otherwise be required.

A close look at our carbon footprint

In 2023, our Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions were calculated for the first time. We are now gathering the necessary data to proceed with Scope 3. The first internal Scope 3 calculations have already been carried out. Based on these results, we can define our targets even more specifically.

Preparing LCAs and EPDs

To gain a better understanding of the environmental performance of our products, life cycle assessments will be carried out. Furthermore, EPDs will be provided for our key products in order for this information to be used by our partners.

Office building renovation

In 2025, our office was refurbished and modernised. The building was fitted with LED lighting and a modern air-conditioning system featuring low energy consumption and a low GWP. The desks themselves were also replaced with height-adjustable desks and cushy office chairs to ensure optimal ergonomic comfort.

Digitalisation

As part of the office renovation, the meeting rooms were fitted with touchscreen displays to facilitate our presentations and internal collaboration. In 2026, delivery notes and delivery receipts will be fully digitised. The purchase of a new server will significantly facilitate online collaboration and marks another step in the right direction in our internal digital (r)evolution.

A few products in the spotlight

Mortars

We are introducing the new CuglaNova product range: sustainable mortars for installing precast elements in infrastructure, residential construction and industry. And we’re proud of it!

We are embracing a new name and a fresh approach that is closely aligned with the future of the construction sector. CuglaNova stands for maintaining the quality of our Cuglaton mortars on the one hand, and committing 100% to innovation in the field of sustainability on the other. We are aiming for packaging that is more recyclable and contents that generate fewer emissions.

Releasing Agents

For decades, Demula has been supplying high-quality releasing agents for a wide range of applications. In recent years, we have focused particularly on offering ‘green’ alternatives. We have also noticed that customers often follow our lead in this regard, as it offers a number of advantages. No odour, no stains, a better finish, less greasy… and all without compromising on the end result.

Please feel free to contact us and we will work with you to identify which products are suitable for your formwork (wood, metal, concrete plywood, etc.) or for your maintenance of equipment (mixers, buckets, batching plants, etc.). Be sure to ask for our handy brochure, which provides a clear overview of our releasing agents.

Curing Agents

Curing agents (or curing compounds) are used to protect freshly poured concrete from drying out too quickly due to sun and wind, ensuring that cement hydration proceeds optimally, strength increases and plastic shrinkage cracks are prevented. They form a thin film or vapour-retarding layer on the concrete surface, ensuring that the water required for proper curing remains within the concrete. This is crucial for the final quality, durability and strength of the concrete floor or surface.

Did you know that, in addition to traditional curing compounds, we also offer water-based versions? At Demula, we offer two types of curing agents that are odourless, healthier and yet highly effective: Demula Curing A (water-based and acrylic-based) for concrete floors and Demula Curing P (water-based and paraffin-based) for road construction. Feel free to ask which curing agent is best suited to your project! Together, we strive for quality!
